Rev. William Johnson was called in 1964 by the Board of American Missions of the LCA to be mission developer in the Oak Grove area. The Board purchased a parsonage at 4638 SE Robin Road, and it was there that many of the early activities of the congregation took place. On November 29, 1964 the first worship service was held at Oak Hills Presbyterian Church. Sunday School met in the parsonage with an initial enrollment of 35.
